Hey y’all, it’s technically week 38 of my Mounjaro journey, but I’m calling it week one again because I’ve just restarted after a six-week break. I had to pause the medication due to my hysterectomy—if you’re curious about how that went, check out this video for all the details— https://youtu.be/ijmJDEBiRP4 I’m not gonna lie, those six weeks off were rough. I didn’t track my blood sugar, I indulged in cravings, and I gained about 15 pounds. The hunger came back hard, and I found myself wanting foods I hadn’t even craved in ages—donuts, Blizzards, you name it. Today, I’m back on the 5mg dose of Mounjaro, skipping the starter dose since my body’s already familiar with it. I’m hoping the side effects won’t be too harsh this time—though I do expect some nausea like before. I’m taking the shot again not just for weight but to control my cravings and get my A1C back in check. I’ve got a doctor’s appointment coming up, and let’s just say… I’ll have some explaining to do. There’s also a lot to consider when it comes to surgery and this medication. You’re supposed to be off Mounjaro a month before and four weeks after surgery. The drug slows digestion, which is great for appetite suppression, but risky around surgical procedures due to the potential for aspiration under anesthesia. Even though I gained a little weight, I’m still fitting into some of my smallest clothes, which is kind of amazing.
